This is my second-to-last update from Israel. On the one hand, it feels like it has been a very, very long trip. On the other hand, as they say, "time flies when you're having fun!" This week has been spent in Netanya. We've been at the Israel College of the Bible where Prof. Craig A. Evans has been lecturing on the Gospel of Matthew. I gave a guest lecture on "John the Baptist and the Holy Spirit" a few days ago. Today I will give a shorter lecture on "John the Baptist and Jesus the Messiah according to the Gospel of Matthew".
Tomorrow we go to Old City Jerusalem. We will have a couple days to meander this area before visiting the Mt. Zion Dig. I will be able to spend a couple days there prior to flying to England on Tuesday. On Thursday I will present at the Trinity College Postgraduate Conference on the topic "Locusts and Honey: The Diet of John the Baptist of the Prophetic Symbolism of His Preaching". While in England, other than attending this conference, I will spend a day in Oxford again, and I hope to get over to Bath to see the Roman baths there. Then it is back to the United States.
I miss my wife so much! I can't wait to see her again in early July. It will be nice to be home for a week and a half before we drive to California to spend time with my family there while meeting my nephew for the first time. What a wonderful summer this has been and will be.
