Books for Christmas: Round 3.

A few weeks ago Christmas ended with another Amazon Gift Card. Again, I purchased books. I've wanted to read the Iliad and dyssey for a while now. In part, to have read the text that was so central to the ancient Mediterranean; in part, for leisure. I found that Robert Fagles translations seemed to be the most enjoyable to read, so I grabbed both his rendering of the Iliad and the Odyssey. This has become my Saturday reading.

In addition, I purchased Jodi Magness' The Archaeology of the Holy Land to help me prepare for my trip to Israel this summer, which will include a dig or two (more on this soon).
