Today my wife and I were received into the United Methodist Church as professing members at La Trinidad here in San Antonio, TX. We've been part of the independent Church tradition for a while now and prior to that we were in affiliation with groups of Pentecostals. While we are grateful for these various congregations and their willingness to allow us into their communities over the years we've also come to the point where some sort of deeper commitment seemed timely. In our five years of marriage we've moved twice and worshipped with four congregations. Since we do not know what the future holds for us the thought of continually having to "shop" for a new Church became tiresome. This is our commitment to an ecclesial tradition with which we can align in good conscience, "for better or for worse" if you will. We're excited to be part of the United Methodist Church, practicing our faith with the influence of Wesleyan theology, and we hope to contribute our whole selves to its well being.
