AAR/SBL 2014 has concluded. Now I sit in the airport in San Diego waiting to go home, preparing to return to the daily grind. This conference was both energizing and eye-opening. I got to spend time thinking about the things that mattered while investing even more time and money into a field that will become a dead end for many of us. It's a roll of the dice. There's no guarantee it will be worth the time, energy, and money in the end. But I'm going to enjoy it all right now.
Yesterday I attended a couple sessions, heard some good presentations, and most importantly spent time with old friends and new ones. I laughed more yesterday than I have laughed in a long time.
Tonight I'll be reunited with my wife. I miss her. She reminds me of what really matters. Time to get back to the day-to-day; time to return to working toward an unknown future.
