AAR/SBL 2014: Day 1

Today was a travel day. It began in San Antonio with a brief stop in San Francisco before arriving in San Diego. While in San Francisco I learned from my brother by phone that their baby will be a boy, so that will make me the uncle of a nephew. I planned on buying the child a Buster Posey jersey no matter the gender, but it is fun to know who to expect.

San Diego is beautiful. It is a fun city to meander, especially the Gaslamp District. I found a nice French restaurant called Le Parfait Paris for dinner and it was excellent. Then I met with Howard Pepper, a name familiar to some in the blogosphere both as a blogger and one who comments on other's blogs.

Also, I received some good news about a teaching internship back in San Antonio. I will say more about that once things are finalized.

Tomorrow should be busy. I meet with Prof. Evans to discuss my progress on my dissertation then I present a paper later that evening.

Final word: I am thrilled to hear that President Obama has taken action to protect people who have immigrated to our country. I hope it does just that! I presume our politicians will do all they can to enforce their xenophobia before its all said and done though.
